Dale Fairly numerous: mainly E Ulster, scattered in the south. English, "dweller in the dale".
Daley fairly rare: Belfast etc. See Daly.
Daly Very numerous: all provinces. Ir. Ó Dálaigh, dálach, fond of meetings. The greatest of the Irish literary families. Cúchonnacht Ó Dálaigh had a bardic school in Meath in 12 cent, other members were distinguished in the following centuries until the destruction of the Gaelic order. IF & SGG.
