Kirby | numerous: Munster generally. Ir. Ó Ciarmhaic, Ó Ciarba. The latter as spoken in the south, whereas Kerwick retains the original form in Kilkenny. In Connacht the name represents Mac Geirble who originated in Mayo. In Munster they were located in E Limerick whence they were displaced after the Invasion. MIF & SGG. |
