O'Mahony Very numerous: all areas, especially Cork and Munster generally. Ir. Ó Mathghamhna, modern Ó Mathúna. From first name Mathghamhain "bear-calf". A sept of W Cork. Their eponymous ancestor fell at the battle of Clontarf in 1014. IF.
