Ó Maolmhuaidh | Molloy: an-líonmhar: gach aird - Lár na Tíre & Connachta go sonrach. Feara Ceall ab'ainm dá ndúiche in Uíbh Fhailí, seilbh a choimeád siad go dtí an 17 céad. Mhaoigh siad sinsearacht ó Niall Naoi-giallach ach ghlacadar oifig ó na Sasanaigh mar "Mheirgire an Rí" - rud a chabhraigh leo a chuid tailte a choiméad, b'fhéidir. Tá dhá thuairim faoi shinsearacht Molloy/Mulloy i gConnachta: (1) craobh den dream thuas a shocraigh i Ros Comáin, nó (2) Ó Maolaoidh, q.v. Tugtar an bhrí: taoiseach uasal - ciallaíonn muadh: maoth nó flaithiúil. SGG & IF. |
