Surname Dictionary

Kehoe numerous: South East etc. Ir. Mac Eochaidh. A bardic family attached to the O'Byrnes of Wicklow. Elsewhere as Keogh, q.v. IF.
Keogh Very numerous: all areas, especially Dublin, N Leinster. Ir. Mac Eochaidh from a common first name Eochaidh, meaning perhaps "horseman". There were septs in Tipperary, Roscommon and Wicklow, the latter now usually Kehoe. See MacKeogh. IF.
Keough Very rare: Antrim etc. See Keogh.
