| MacGorman | fairly rare: Tyrone-Monaghan etc. Ir. Mac Gormáin, diminutive of gorm, blue. A sept of Laois, they were driven to W Clare, where they occur as Gorman or O'Gorman. MacLysaght says that some of the original sept went to Monaghan and they seem to have retained the correct version, i.e. Mac Gorman. IF. |
