Bhí roinnt clanna éagsúla ann - an ceann ba mhó, gan amhras, Clann Dálaigh i dTír Conaill. Bhí cinn eile i gCorca Baiscin (Clár); i nGaillimh, i gCeatharlach agus in Oirghialla. Bhí Clann Dálaigh i gceannas ar Thír Conaill ar feadh ceithre chéad blian gur tháinig deireadh lena réim i dTeitheadh na n-Iarlaí i 1607. IF.
O'Donnell Very numerous: all areas, especially Connacht. Ir. Ó Domhnaill, from first name Domhnall, "world-mighty". Three septs: in Clare, Galway and Donegal, the latter being best known for their part in the Resistance in 16 cent. IF & SGG.
