Surname Dictionary

Joy fairly numerous: Limerick-Kerry, Waterfordetc. Ir. Seoigh(e). A name of Breton origin in Munster, it has occurred in very early records. Curiously, Dauzat mentions Joy as Irish immigrants to France in 17 cent. In Connacht, it is a synonym of Joyce. SI & SGG.
