Surname Dictionary

Finn Very numerous: all areas, particularly Cork & Connacht. Ir. Ó Finn, (fionn, fair). Three septs in mediaeval times: two in Connacht and one in Oriel. It seems likely that there was one in Cork, though no records exist. See also Maginn. IF & SGG.
Ó Finn Finn: an-líonmhar: gach aird, Connachta & Corcaigh ach go h-áirithe. Bhí dhá chlann i gConnachta: Gaillimh & Sligeach; ceann in Oirghialla i ndúiche darb ainm Feara Rois. Dar ndó, bhí an t-ainm Fionn an-choitianta in Éirinn agus faightear in a lán sloinnte é.
