Finnegan	Very numerous: Northern Half generally but present all areas. Ir. Ó Fionnagáin, (fionn, fair). Two septs: (1) Uí Fiachrach (Mayo), (2) Breifne (Cavan). Occurs in various spellings: Finegan, Finikin etc. IF.
Ó Fionnagáin	Finnegan: an-líonmhar i Leath Chuinn. Luaitear dhá chlann: (1) Uí Fiachrach (Maigh Eo), (2) Breifne (Cabhán). Ceapann Mac Giolla Iasachta go raibh an sloinne seo i gCill Mhantáin sa mheán-aois. IF.
