Faherty fairly numerous: Galway etc. Ir. Ó Fathartaigh. This sept was seated on the east shore of L Corrib and has been confused with Flaherty. SI.
Feherty rare: Bangor (Down). Evidently native, no original has emerged.
Ó Fathartaigh rare: Galway. Ir.Lang. See Faherty.
Ó Fathartaigh Faherty: cuíosach líonmhar: Gaillimh & rl. Clann a bhí suite taobh thoir de Loch Coirib i ndúiche dar teideal Dealbhna Cuile Fabhair. SGG.
O'Faherty Very rare: Dublin. Ir. Ó Fathartaigh, perhaps from fathartach, mettlesome. A sept located E of Loch Corrib, now much changed to Flaherty. See Faherty.
