O'Doherty | numerous: all areas, especially W Ulster, N Munster. Ir. Ó Dochartaigh, dochartach, hurtful. A sept of Donegal, related to the O'Donnells. The Munster O'Dohertys are probably Ó Dubhartaigh, of which there were groups in Tipperary and W Cork. This survives as Doorty, which is close to the original. IF & SGG. |
