Surname Dictionary

Coffey Very numerous: all provinces, especially Limerick-Kerry and Down, where it occurs in equal numbers with Coey. Original Ir. Ó Cobhthaigh. Outside Ulster, there were three septs: W Cork, Galway, Westmeath, the latter noted as bards. IF.
