Agnew	fairly numerous E. Ulster. Two origins: (1) ó Gnímh, an Irish literary family, and (2) d'Agneau (lamb), Norman.MIF.
Ó Gnímh	Agnew: cuíosach líonmhar: oirthear Uladh. Clann liteartha a bhain leis na Niallaigh sa Dún. Dob'é Fearflatha Ó Gnímh, file (1550-1640), tar éis teitheadh na n-Iarlaí, a chuir an phríomh-cheist: "an mbeidh an t-athaoibhneas againn?" Táimíd ag feitheamh fós.
