Hennessy	Very numerous: all areas, mainly Munster and S Leinster. Ir. Ó h-Aonghusa, from the personal name Aonghus, earlier Óengus. There were septs in the Midlands and W Cork. The Hennessys of Cognac fame came from Mallow. IF.
Hensey	fairly rare: Dublin and scattered. A variant of Hennessy, q.v.
