DUNDERMOT

DUNDERMOT, a grange, in the barony of KILCONWAY, county of ANTRIM, and province of ULSTER, on the Ravel water ; containing 1069 inhabitants. It comprises, according to the Ordnance survey, 3003- statute acres : the tithes, which are impropriate, amount to £65. There is a meeting-house for Presbyterians of the Seceding Synod in connection with that at Ahoghill. Near the Ballymena road is a Danish fort or mound of an oval form, 60 feet by 30, the summit of which is level, and the base surrounded by a deep fosse and counterscarp : towards the bridge over the Ravel two parallel branches from the fosse enclose another area of a quadrangular form, now called "the parade."
