Ó Tuathchair (1) Togher, Tougher: líon beag: Sligeach-Liatroim & Lár na Tíre; (2) Tooher: Tiobraid Árann thuaidh-Uíbh Fhailí theas. Tá an dream deireannach ina ndúiche féin, Eile Uí Cearúill; bhí clann eile i dtuaisceart Chonnacht ach tháinig siad ó iarthar Uladh an chéad lá. Fréamh: tuath + car = pobal + grá.
Togher Quite numerous: mainly Mayo-Sligo-Galway, Midlands etc. Ir. Ó Tuathchair (people-dear). There were two septs: one in Midlands, the other N Connacht. See also Tooher and Tougher. MIF.
Tooher fairly rare: N Tipperary-S Offaly. Ir. Ó Tuathchair (people-dear). This sept lived in Ely O'Carroll, which corresponds well with their present habitat. See Tougher.
