Surname Dictionary

Guidera fairly rare: N Tipperary etc. Ir. Mac Giodaire (SGA). Possibly from giodar = haste. However, this name was not noticed by Woulfe and MacLysaght could not find a basic Irish version. It has been in Tipperary since mid-17 cent and also occurs in Mid-Ulster. Further research into origins is needed. SI &MIF.
